manage_accounts Who is an executor?
Your executor is the person responsible for carrying out your Will after you are gone — collecting assets, paying debts, and distributing to your beneficiaries. Choose someone who will actually step up when the time comes. A spouse, a sibling, or a trusted friend.
You can name up to 3 executors in your vault. All three will be contacted at the time of access activation. Each has a name, phone number, and email stored securely.
Your executor doesn't need to understand everything. They just need to know where to start — Soult handles the rest.
One executor is enough. Two gives a backup. A lawyer as the third gives legal expertise if needed. Name based on your trust, not formality.
Life changes. Your Will can too.
A codicil is a legal amendment to an existing Will. You don't need to rewrite your Will. Just update what changed. Soult stores the original Will and every codicil together — your executor sees both.
Common reasons to add a codicil:

New asset acquiredBought a property or opened a new FD after your Will was written.

Beneficiary changeA child was born. A relationship changed. You want to update who receives what.

Executor changeYour original executor has passed away or is no longer the right person.

Distribution updateThe original percentages no longer reflect your wishes.
The Codicil template is in the Template tab. Fill it in using the Legal Guide — takes about 10 minutes. Upload it alongside your original Will.
Example codicil situation
"I wrote my Will in 2019. In 2023 we had our second child. I also bought a plot in Anekal that wasn't in the original Will. I added a codicil in 15 minutes — updated the beneficiary section for the new child, added the property with its survey number. No rewriting. No lawyer visit. Just a single clear amendment."
The original Will and the codicil are both stored in Soult, both MPIN-protected. The executor will see both documents and follow the most recent instructions.
